Agricultural supply chains are heavily reliant on water and face local challenges such as pollution, over abstraction and climate change. In this session, AWS and its partners will share learnings from the agricultural sector in Indonesia, Latin America, North America and Europe to stimulate collective action on water stewardship.

This session will examine case studies from the food retail industry, development finance institutions and agricultural producers.

AWS Strategic Program Manager, Sarah Wade, will provide an overview of AWS’ work in agriculture around the world. This will include an update from the working group developing our Agriculture Guidance and insight from use of the Standard in agricultural settings in Indonesia, Europe, North America and South America. Carla Toranzo, AWS Latin America and the Caribbean Coordinator, will then dive deeper into learning coming from our Latin America Network, highlighting public sector engagement and collaboration across sectors.

Following the two presentations, there will be a facilitated discussion involving AWS Members, providing an opportunity for the audience to ask questions and share further insight, and seek input from participants to identify further opportunities enhance water stewardship in agricultural settings. Knowledge and insight shared during the session will support further development of the AWS Agriculture Guidance and our new program of work on landscape approaches.
